A Structural Equation Modeling Approach to Relationships between Specific Executive Functions in Neurodiverse Youth

Abstract
Findings from the current study demonstrated robust relationships between specific executive function indices in a youth sample overrepresented for autistic traits. Specifically, poor inhibition and nonverbal/verbal mental shifting contributed to 1) emotion dysregulation and 2) rigidity with day-to-day changes. Results may inform neurodiversity-affirming interventions addressing these specific clinical challenges.
