Abstract

This study examined how eminent individuals in the science and non-science fields (e.g., arts) are portrayed in biographies written for children. Results indicated that in books written by male authors, eminent male (vs. female) protagonists in non-science fields were more likely to be described as possessing fixed and unchangeable characteristics.
