Firearm Laws Fail to Predict States’ Officer-Involved Shooting Rates

Contrary to predictions stemming from the Culture of Honor Theory, states' firearm laws and policies were not significantly associated with population-adjusted rates of officer-involved lethal shootings of armed or of unarmed citizens. This was the case whether such laws and policies were considered individually or at an aggregated (ranked) level.
