Shared Memories, Unseen Struggles: The Impact of Self-Disclosure on PTSD and Relationship Quality in Military Couples

Fifty-two military couples in this study completed questionnaires on psychological functioning, relationship quality, general self-disclosure, and deployment-related disclosure. While general disclosure correlated with lower PTSD, deployment-related disclosure correlated with higher PTSD and lower relationship quality. This research will also discuss themes of deployment-related shared memories among high- and low-disclosing couples.
