Abstract
Children’s emotion communication (CEC) and parents’ emotion coaching (PEC) were coded as parent-child dyads (N=115, Mchild age= 9.18) talked about shared emotional experiences. Parents self-reported their empathy and discipline strategies. Parents’ higher PEC, lower lax discipline, and lower personal empathic distress were associated with higher CEC.
