Abstract

Experiences can trigger memories of either external (perceived) or internal (imagined) content. How does feedback about memory accuracy influence judgments about whether memories were perceived or imagined? Here, we show that accuracy feedback (compared to speed feedback) improves source identification for imagined memories, and enhances metacognitive judgments for imagination, too.
