Abstract

This investigation is a meta-analytic review comparing the degree of extinction of classically conditioned disgust (k=14) versus fear (k=14) in laboratory conditioning paradigms. Results indicate that disgust is more resistant to extinction than fear. Findings have treatment implications for disorders characterized by heightened disgust (e.g., OCD, PTSD, specific phobia, etc.).
