Abstract

Researchers explored how undergraduate engineering students’ participation in research influences their perceptions of science identity and belonging, and how science identity relates to research skill-building, belonging, and engineering interest. Results indicate links between science identity and belonging, interest, and skill-building. Research opportunities were not related to students’ identity or belonging.
