Abstract

When assessing tradeoffs between screen time and other activities in a representative birth cohort sample of 2,954 U.K. adolescents, more screen time predicted poorer mental well-being and socioemotional development relative to sleep but not work. Therefore, the effect of any single activity should be considered in relation to others.
