Abstract
We investigated how attention to sound-synchronous object+noise and speaker+voice in male and female toddlers relates to expressive vocabulary. Percent matching objects to sounds was a predictor for boys; percent matching speakers to voices was a predictor for girls, revealing interesting motivational strategies in toddlers' distribution of attention during word learning.
