Examining the Association between Racial/Ethnic Underrepresentation in a School Context, Loneliness, and Cortisol Levels in Adolescence

Prior research has linked loneliness to decreased adolescent wellbeing. This proposed analysis of an ongoing research study aims to examine the association between adolescents’ racial/ethnic underrepresentation in a school context, loneliness, and the stress hormone cortisol. The results could inform interventions that support minoritized adolescents and lower risk for loneliness.
