Abstract

Study tested guilt- and shame-proneness as mediators between psychopathy and coping (N = 432; Mage = 19.46). Indirect paths via guilt-proneness and direct paths (from psychopathy to emotion-focused and avoidant coping) were significant. Psychopathy was associated with emotion- and problem-focused coping via guilt-proneness, and directly associated with emotion-focused and avoidant.
