Parental Mediation of Adolescents' Social Media Use and Its Impact on Online Risk Behaviors

Little is known about how parents mediate their children’s social media use and whether it impacts their online behaviors. We surveyed 259 undergraduate psychology students and found that active mediation strategies are those most frequently used by parents and they reduce online risky behaviors (ρ = -0.141, p = 0.022).
