Abstract
Abstinence self-efficacy (ASE) is implicated in alcohol use behaviors; however, it is unclear how ASE maintains problematic use in non-treatment seeking clinical samples. The current study provides support for reciprocal within-person associations between drinking and ASE, such that ASE predicted same-day drinking behavior, which subsequently predicted lower next-day ASE.
