Abstract
Employing propensity score matching and difference-in-difference analyses to improve causal inference, we evaluated whether Child Access Prevention (CAP) laws reduced youth firearm mortality. CAP laws led to a significant reduction of .884 deaths per 100,000 children in CAP states, demonstrating macro-level benefits of encouraging safe storage practices through CAP laws.
