Exposure to Vicarious Heterosexism Elicits Internalized Heterosexism-Based Processes Among Sexual Minority Young Adults: An Experimental Study
- Ethan Mereish

Abstract
This experimental study tested the effects of vicarious heterosexism on internalized heterosexism-based processes (i.e., internalized heterosexism, heterosexism-specific rejection sensitivity, and sexual identity rumination) among a sample of sexual minority young adults. Support for these effects were documented and they were accentuated for individuals living in states with high structural heterosexism.
