The Impact of Fictional Portrayals of Suicide on Viewers: An Experimental Study

Exposures to depictions of suicide in the media may lead to imitation suicide attempts, but research in this area is correlational. Surprisingly, the current experimental study found a decrease in perceptions of suicide acceptability following exposure to a graphic fictional media depiction of suicide.
