Food Addiction and Substance Addiction in Community Women: Prospective Evidence of Common and Distinct Emotion Regulation Deficits

It is unclear whether food addiction should be considered a behavioural or substance addiction. The current study examined facets of emotion regulation that prospectively predicted substance and food addiction. The results showed that food addiction and substance addiction are associated with unique emotion regulation deficits, suggesting they are distinct constructs.
