Academic Motivation of Canadian University Students in the Context of COVID-19: The Effects of Mental Health, Sociodemographic, and Pandemic Experiences

We measured the impact of mental health on academic motivation (AM) of 1868 Canadian undergraduate university students during COVID-19. Higher depression/anxiety/stress predicted lower AM (βs ≥ .70 , ps ≤ .000), whereas higher resilience predicted higher AM (βs ≥ .369, ps ≤ .002). Sociodemographic and COVID-related predictors were also identified.
