Abstract
We investigated the influence of lay beliefs about willpower on pro-environmental behavior. In a correlational (N=165) and an experimental study (N=208), we show that people with a nonlimited willpower belief perform better and exert more effort (as measured by cardiovascular indicators of effort) on a task that benefits the environment.
