Saving the Environment? That’s Beyond My (Will)Power!

Self-regulation processes play an important role in increasing people’s environmental behavior. We show that people with a nonlimited willpower belief (measured or induced) perform better and exert more effort (as measured by cardiovascular indicators of effort) for the environment. These results provide an interesting starting point to promote environmental behavior.
