More Than Words: Comparing Interpersonal Coordination during Verbal and Nonverbal Interactions

Using 3D motion capture we compared spontaneous interpersonal coordination patterns during verbal and nonverbal interactions. There were 40 participants (20 males, M_age=20.7) organized in 20 dyads. Similar early patterns (250ms) and marked differences for late patterns (1200ms) were observed, showing that the absence of verbal communication does not hinder coordination.
