The Completion over Progression Effect: A Preference for Completing a Task or Activity over Making Progressions

Abstract
Two studies revealed that people preferred completing a task or activity over making progress on it. The effect was accounted for by the perceived significance of completion and progression. Meanwhile, the effect was greater when people have a greater urge to finish things they started.
