Abstract

We investigated the causal pathways from child neglect and child abuse to peer popularity through peer relationships. Participants were 322 children from the LONGSCAN database. Path analysis models explained approximately 6% variance in peer popularity and 7.6% in peer relationship, accentuating child neglect’s increased negative impact on children’s socioemotional development.
