Abstract

An analysis of Americans’ Twitter activity involving tweets related to COVID-19 and those unrelated during the pandemic suggested that state-level cultural collectivism sensitizes residents to potential threats while buffering them from actual threats. Our findings uncover the impact of culture on people's coping with global health crises.
