Abstract
Given homophily's role in group formation and prosocial behavior, this research explores how manipulating racial, gender, and age characteristics of co-players impacts perceptions of reputation in a public goods game. Across three studies (N = 960), we found that the type of social characteristic modulates the leniency towards bad reputation.
