Labor Unions of Yesterday for Workers of Today: The Union Organizing Experience of Cultural Workers at the Philadelphia Museum of Art

An exploratory study of employee activism in union organizing at the Philadelphia Museum of Art was conducted. Using a grounded theory methodology, we examined cultural worker experiences by analyzing transcripts of semi-structured interviews with 25 employees. Activists experienced feelings of workplace injustice, camaraderie, union instrumentality, coalition building, and shared ideology.
