Examining Childhood Deprivation, Threat, & Alcohol Consequences: A Focus on Impulsive Behavior, Reward-Related Processes, and Emotion Dysregulation

While both deprivation and threatening childhood experiences influence reward processing, emotion regulation, and impulsivity, deprivation, in particular, emerged as a strong predictor of alcohol misuse (AIC = 9586.9, BIC = 9626.7, x²(2) = 14.40, p < .001), highlighting the need for tailored interventions addressing emotional and physical neglect.
