Effects of Validity Screening Items on Elementary and Secondary School Students' Ratings of Their Teachers

Abstract

We collected 839836 student survey of 10593 teachers in 5 teaching practices across two years. Three screening items were evenly distributed in each survey. Our analysis shows that attentive and older students tend to provide more time consistent and principal-corroborated ratings. However, the inattentive responses may also from disadvantaged students.
