Schizophrenia Prevalence Predicts Alcohol Use and Drug Use Disorders across Countries

Country-level prevalence data were analyzed and showed that schizophrenia and alcohol use have a positive relationship globally. Similarly, a positive relationship was found between substance use disorders (SUDs) and schizophrenia across countries. Findings – especially pertaining to SUDs -- support and extend prior research to the global level.
