Abstract
Here, we report the results of a meta-analytic study showing that while schizophrenia is associated with amygdala volume reductions, these decrements are not modulated by illness duration. These findings are most consistent with the hypothesis that amygdala dysfunction, including volume reduction, is a risk factor for schizophrenia.
