Abstract

This preregistered study investigated people's perceptions of the risk of physical aggression caused by consuming violent media. Results showed that participants underestimated the risk of violent media consumption compared to other legitimate risks and mythical threats. This suggests that violent media consumption is an underappreciated risk factor for physical aggression.
