Five-Factor Structure of the Differentiation of Self Inventory with Construct Validity Correlates

Differentiation of Self Inventory data from 295 participants was factor analyzed to uncover a clear simple structure. The optimal solution comprised five factors rather than four, suggesting the traditional subscales may not best represent the underlying structure in all data sets. Correlations to related variables support validity of the solution.
