A Latent Variable Approach to Affect Variability in Daily Life Accurately Predicts Depression Symptoms, Anxiety Symptoms, Neuroticism Levels, and Stress Levels in a Non-Clinical Sample

Abstract
In a 14-day ecological momentary assessment study, we used a latent variable approach to examine the relationship between negative affect variability and depression, anxiety, stress, and neuroticism in a sample of young adults (N= 136). Negative affect variability was significantly positively related to severity of depression, anxiety, stress, and neuroticism.
