Childhood Emotional Support Is Associated with Adaptive Behavioral and Emotional Outcomes in First-Year College Students

Protective childhood experiences (PCEs) were assessed in first-year college students as predictors of coping behavior and affect in weekly diary responses. Childhood emotional support (a facet of PCEs) was a significant predictor of self-reported positive affect, engagement in healthy coping behaviors, and interacted with stress to predict positive emotional responses.
