Exploring the Impact of Romantic Relationships on Mental Health: A Clustered Multilevel Analysis of Depression and Self-Esteem within Family Contexts

In our cluster multilevel analysis of 1461 participants nested in 283 families (833 Females, M_age = 48.73), we found romantic relationships were associated with lower levels of depression and higher levels of self-esteem, both within and between families. Moreover, for married individuals, greater marital satisfaction intensified these positive mental-health outcomes.
