No Thank You: When and Why People Don’t Regulate Their Emotions

Abstract
To understand the role of emotion in motivation and behavior, we examined when and why people do not regulate their emotions. Experience sampling showed people were more likely not to regulate emotions based on situational and emotional factors as well as when emotions were less intense or more helpful.
