Abstract
The present study will examine whether inducing empathy in jurors leads to lesser sentences, if this extends to instances of a death penalty phase trial where the perpetrator and victim are strangers, and where the perpetrator exhibits evidence of mental illness, brain damage, or sexual abuse.
