Who’s Fault Is It Anyway?: Emotion Regulation in Collegiate Doubles

Emotions significantly impact performance. Emotion regulation becomes increasingly complex when accounting for a partner’s feelings. Semi-structured interviews with tennis doubles teams, revealed emotional intelligence was characteristic of high-performing teams. Teams with an alignment between emotion regulation strategies and mindset could focus on strategizing while misalignment created conflict and distraction.
