Abstract

To investigate what contributes to a well-rounded ending (i.e., ending marked by psychological closure), we conducted an experiment-embedded survey (N = 231) and content analyzed individuals' written experience with endings (N = 214). Our results suggest that cognitively attributing meaning to the ending is important, while emotional satisfaction is not.
