Get Your Vitality Boost: The Impact of Personal Metaphors on Autonomously and Control Motivated Goals

We conducted an online goal setting intervention over 11 weeks (N = 413, M_age = 21, 73% female). Vitality was higher for autonomous goals than for controlled goals, while it was significantly higher for motto goals than for smart goals and goals in the control group, especially for control-motivated goals.
