Abstract
This study investigates whether ethnic identity buffers the association between victimization and future expectations among justice-involved Black males at intersectional risk of victimization. Analyses indicated that victimization predicted diminished future expectations when ethnic identity was low but not high, suggesting that strong ethnic identity preserves hope, even after victimization.
