The Influence of Sleep Quality and Stress on Cardiovascular Health in White Versus Black Adults

Abstract
We cross-sectionally examined associations between subjective sleep quality, perceived stress, and blood pressure (BP) among healthy Black (N=64) and White Americans (N=96). We found that Black participants’ higher stress predicted lower BP across sleep quality (p=0.06). For White participants with high quality sleep, higher stress predicted higher BP (p=0.02).
