Abstract
The relationship between childhood maltreatment (CM) and emotion regulation is well established in the literature. However, the role of cognitive intelligence, specifically verbal reasoning, in this relationship is not understood. We found a positive relationship between CM and emotion regulation, with verbal reasoning as a significant moderator of this relationship.
