Weather-Related Phobia and PTSD Symptoms Predict Severe Weather Preparedness

Abstract

Our study examined the predictors of severe weather preparedness among 371 American adults. Findings revealed that weather-related PTSD symptoms significantly influence actual preparedness actions, while weather phobia symptoms strongly predict only the intention to prepare, indicating a complex relationship between psychological factors and disaster readiness.
