Abstract
We investigated whether naïve participants can differentiate between grammatical and ungrammatical sequences after a brief exposure to a simple or complex artificial language. Participants performed above chance on a grammaticality task (n = 80, M = .54, p = 0.015) without successfully identifying the underlying rules, indicative of implicit learning.
