Religion and the Body: Investigating Religious Coping and Disordered Eating

Through two studies, we investigated how one's religious coping behaviors influence disordered eating (ED) behaviors. Study 1 (N = 210) found that negative coping styles exacerbated ED behaviors while positive coping styles protected against ED behaviors. Study 2 (N = 321) examined the role of gender essentialism in this relationship.
