Abstract

The purpose of this research was to examine a potential mechanism for the tonic immobility-PTSD relationship. Analyses revealed that survivors’ self-blame partially mediated the relationship between tonic immobility during a sexual assault and PTSD symptom severity. However, findings did not differ depending on survivors’ acceptance of resistance-related rape myths.
