Abstract

Native (32; 45) and non-native (30) Spanish speakers performed two gender-priming tasks to explore the nature of the gender-congruency effect. Behavioral and electrophysiological results revealed that, while the gender-congruency effect occurs at lexical level, the grammatical rule of the generic masculine as an inclusive form does not apply to role-nouns.
