Effects of Notetaking Modality on Learning in the Classroom: The Role of Tablets, Distraction, and ADHD

Abstract

Notetaking supports learning and academic achievement in college. We investigated how notetaking modality facilitated learning in a college class, in addition to distraction and ADHD symptoms. Individuals who took notes with a tablet, were not distracted, and were male learned more from the lecture. There was no effect of ADHD.
